here's what we have: a right-wing cheering gallery and excuse factory for the state's behavior abroad, and a left-wing cheering gallery for its aggression and looting at home.

WASHINGTON -- George Tenet has a very mixed legacy. On the one hand, he presided over the two biggest intelligence failures of this era -- 9/11 and the WMD debacle in Iraq. On the other hand, his CIA did devise and carry out brilliantly an astonishingly bold plan to overthrow the Taliban in Afghanistan. Tenet might have just left it at that, gone h

To see how anti-Arab/anti-Muslim bigotry is accepted and applauded in America, one has to look no further than HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher, hosted by "left-wing" comedian and political commentator Bill Maher. "Liberal" pundits like Maher pass off their anti-Arab/anti-Muslim rhetoric as an innocent invocation

The most alarming sentences that I have read in a long time came from the pen of my fellow atheist Sam Harris, author of The End of Faith, at the end of a September Los Angeles Times column upbraiding American liberals for their masochistic attitude toward Islamist totalitarianism. Harris concluded:

Beware of liberals using such words as "fairness." In resurrecting the "Fairness Doctrine," liberals are trying to kill conservative talk radio and restore their media monopoly. Period. The doctrine would selectively stifle free political discourse, which is essential for our representative government.

For decades, conservatives have railed against liberals as "weak on defense," content to let U.S. military readiness decline. In light of this week's announced escalation, conservatives must now be challenged to prove where their loyalties lie, with Bush or with our armed forces, breaking under the strain of his failed policies.

Lawmakers risk the ire of bloggers and other activists if they waver on an Iraq exit. Rep. Nancy Boyda, a freshman Democrat from Kansas, learned the price of defying her party's liberal base after she said she would support President Bush's proposed increase in U.S. troop levels. AntiWar bloggers promptly let her know how they feel.

No Liberals in My Foxhole! Written by Alan Caruba Tuesday, August 01, 2006 In times of war, the last person you want in the foxhole with you is a liberal. Liberals are always desperately looking for a white flag to wave. They are always trying to “understand” the enemy and excuse his bad behavior.
